PRACTICE TIPS
Your child has been given one of our practice notebooks this term. Each week, your
child’s tutor will record what needs to be practiced at home so it is important that the
notebook is brought along to each lesson. In the front of the notebook, we have included
the following practice tips for our students:
HOW LONG?
Decide this with your teacher. If it seems like a long time, divide it into shorter sessions
- 30 minutes could be 3x ten minute slots or 2x fifteen minute slots - our best
concentration is about 10 minutes!
WHEN?
Choose two or three times that are best for you. For example:
- after breakfast
- as soon as you get home after school (and afternoon tea!)
- just before or after dinner
WHERE?
In a quiet, peaceful place without distractions - no phone, no TV, not in the play room with
brothers and sisters.
If family activities occur at certain times in the room you practice in, choose other times
to avoid conflict.
PARENTS:
For effective tips on how you can help your child with their practice, take a look at “The
Role of Parents”: at www.practicespot.com (No musical training necessary!) |
